About me
David leads the cybersecurity program for one of the largest school districts in Utah, which means he is personally responsible for defending over 100,000 devices—from Chromebooks to servers—from the ultimate chaos agents: 57,000 students and 7,500 staff members.
With more than ten years in education IT, David has dedicated his career to improving system architectures, teaching kids why they shouldn't try to hack the school grading system, and trying to explain to adults that "P@ssword123" is not a secure login. When he isn’t playing digital whack-a-mole with network threats—or trying to get adults to stop clicking on phishing links—he serves on the State of Utah Cyber Commission, chairs the Statewide IT Directors Council, and chairs the Statewide K-12 Cybersecurity Council. (Basically, he just really, really likes meetings).
Because he apparently has an aversion to free time, David also moonlights as an adjunct professor at Ensign College, teaching cloud server administration. He is a regular presenter at statewide conferences and is always happy to share his battle-tested strategy for fighting off the bad guys and keeping the chaos contained.
